Using Databiomes on Google Cloud Marketplace to Power Voice Moderation for Living Games
Player safety is a growing focus and challenge for game studios. Too often players encounter toxicity in voice chat that pushes them away from the communities and games they love.

Ctrlvox is on-device voice and chat moderation that can control harmful voice messages in real-time before ever reaching the player's ears. Leading in performance and meeting and exceeding existing moderation AI models, the product is now available to game studios as a plugin for Unreal Engine 5. 100% Blueprint-based, adding moderation to games is more accessible than ever. Ctrlvox runs on a player's CPU or NPU if available, so moderation is fast, private and under the player's control. The GPU is never used. Supporting both PC and Mobile.

Ctrlvox was built with the Databiomes platform, a platform available on the Google Cloud Marketplace for building bespoke on-device AI models. Studios can build and 100% own models built with this platform, and run them alongside Google's Gemini models and human support teams to advance the control studios have on harmful behavior. The most exciting aspect is the opportunity of always evolving the models built with the platform. In player safety, the language of players is evolving, and so should the models.

The Databiomes platform also opens up future possibilities for AI-powered gameplay systems that feel more contextual and less scripted. Imagine AI NPCs that can accurately predict player intent from recent actions, quest state, and game context, then respond with appropriate behaviors that keeps the player immersed.
Paired with Gemini-TTS, studios could create characters that speak with more natural timing, emotional range, and situational awareness, while still respecting the creative direction, lore, and safety boundaries defined by developers. The goal is not to replace handcrafted design, writing, or performance. It is to give teams new tools for building systems that can react to players in ways that feel more alive, while keeping the human creative team firmly in control.
"The next great evolution in our industry is the rise of 'Living Games' where player experiences dynamically adapt in real time. By leveraging the Databiomes platform on Google Cloud Marketplace, developers can build custom AI models and run inference in the cloud and directly on-device when available. This mitigates technical friction and cost, empowering studios to tackle toxicity instantly and focus their energy on creating immersive, safe, and unforgettable worlds."
